James C. Bowling Executive-In-Residence Lecture Series: Wednesday, October 26, 2016: Torod B. Neptune

For the past 16 years, the College of Communication and Information has hosted the James C. Bowling Executive-In-Residence Lecture Series, where a nationally recognized public relations or communications professional comes to UK to interact with students and faculty, attend a reception in their honor and give a lecture.

Last night, the man of the hour was an important one. Like, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Verizon important.

Does the Media Tell Us Who We Are?

Last Thursday evening, I went to a talk being presented on campus titled, “Does The Media Tell Us Who We Are?” expecting the usual, educational lecture one would expect to listen to when attending a presentation on a college campus. However, what I got was actually an incredibly eye-opening and entertaining analysis and discussion of a topic near and dear to pretty much every college student’s heart: Netflix.

Eat With Experience: Rick Maynard, Tempur Sealy

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Global Headquarters of mattress giant Tempur Sealy for a networking event hosted by the College of Communication and Information at UK.

ASB- Alternative Service Break

Some college students go on Spring Break to exotic locations around the globe. Other students stay closer to home and use the time to relax, unwind and get caught up. And still others use the time away from school to improve the world around them by participating in UK's Alternative Service Break.

Our School of Library Science studetns volunteered their break interning in Washington, D.C.

A Very Snapply Day- ISC Competition Team #3

I’m back with very exciting and incredible news. We won Districts! After all of the hard work and the sleepless nights, we ended up winning by a landslide. We won first place, which means we move on to the next stage of the competition! We all got a minute to talk to the judges and they told us that after seeing our presentation and reading our book that there really wasn’t any competition.

ISC Competition Team, Round 2

If I could title this blog post, I would call it, “Running on 2 Hours of Sleep, But It’s Not That Bad.” Unfortunately, that’s a bit long, and I don’t think it would interest any of you.

LEX Week

UK SIS and the University of Kentucky Libraries partnered in the Spring of 2016 to offer a unique, local internship and experiential learning opportunity to our Library Science students called LEX Week. As with the Alternative Spring Break in D.C. program, students who are selected to participate in the LEX Week program spend the week working on a project in a specific area with a library professional as their mentor.

An Intro to the ISC Competition Team

My name is Rachel Izydorek and I’m graduating in May with a degree in Integrated Strategic Communication (ISC.) I am a PR and Direct Response double path with a minor in business and a certificate in Innovative and Entrepreneurial Thinking (iNET). I’m the president of a professional business fraternity, a member of Chi Omega, the treasurer of Ad Club and most importantly a member of the ISC Competition Team.

More from Ireland

Well, it’s me, Breyia, again here to tell you a little bit more about my amazing study abroad experience in Dublin, Ireland, where our JOU 319 group is finishing up our third week of classes.
