Janice Birdwhistell
CI Director of Development (Retired)

Janice Birdwhistell served as the College of Communication and Information's Director of Development for 13 years and Chief of Staff for current Dean H. Dan O'Hair for two years before retiring in August 2014. While at UK she served on the UK Staff Senate, the CIS Staff Council, the Central Development Annual Giving Task Force, the UK National Alumni

Association Board of Director's, the Deans Search Committee, and the President's Outreach and Extension Program Committee. Janice received the College's Outstanding Staff Award in 2006.

Janice has an extensive background in marketing, promotion, association management, event planning and public relations. Janice served as deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Travel Development; marketing director for the Kentucky Horse Park; director of tourism for the Greater Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau; industry and government relations and international director for the National Tour Association and director of constituent services for the Sixth Congressional District from 1993 to 1999.

Janice has spent the last six years as the volunteer coordinator for the LYSA TOPSoccer Program in Lexington which she co-founded with her daughter Jessie Birdwhistell.  TOPS, The Outreach Program for Soccer, provides athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to learn and to play soccer.  The program has been recognized on the national level three times for its outstanding volunteer program.

Janice is a 1973 graduate of Georgetown College.
