Angela Evans
6th District Council Member LFUCG

Angela C. Evans is serving her first term as Council Member of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council. CM Evans has been placed on the Environmental Quality and Public Works Committee and the General Government and Social Services Committee.

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with honors, from Clark Atlanta, Council Member Evans attended the University of Tennessee, College of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2000 and was awarded the Dean’s Citation for exemplary service to the College of Law.

Evans continues to practice law in her home state of Kentucky. Prior to her election in 2015, she served as an Assistant Attorney General of Kentucky for six years, providing legal services to various state agencies. She also served as General Counsel to the Kentucky Secretary of State. Evans began her legal career as a Public Defender in Lexington, Kentucky, representing indigent clients in misdemeanor and felony court. Before getting elected to council, she served on the Ethics Commission for several years.

Evans is devoted to community service and humanitarian work. Her volunteer efforts include mentoring women on spiritual growth and economic stability as well as offering after school activities for orphaned girls at Zion Project in Gulu Uganda. CM Evans has continued her international service. She also participated in two Expert Meetings hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria, where she contributed to two handbooks: The Prevention of Recidivism and the Social Reintegration of Offenders (2012) and State Regulation Concerning Civilian Private Security Services (April 2014).
