Fall 2020 Restart
The University of Kentucky committed to a restart plan for Fall 2020 which made a clear commitment to returning to a residential campus experience in August with classes starting August 17. In response to this, CI is actively working to ensure that the health, safety and well-being of everyone in our community will be at the forefront of everything we do.
Although the reinvented semester may allow for a greater number of variables thatcould impact the implementation of instruction, services and initiatives, we are committedto continuing to launch critical and innovative thinkers, creators and doers.
The College has assembled this document in response to the re-opening plan as described in the University of Kentucky Fall 2020 Re-Start Playbook . We developed our plan with three big questions in mind:
- “What is our college doing regarding the health and safety of our employees?”
- “When will our employees return, and which employees?”
- “What will the UK Experience be in the Fall?”
This document outlines our plans to move forward as a College and although our plans may alter and pivot as our future is filled with lots of unknows, our priority to ensure the health, safety and well-being of everyone in our community will be at the forefront of everything we do. Our College also continues to use our internal site where our stakeholders can come for help finding information, resources and more importantly, community. At this site, you can find the latest information from the University of Kentucky’s COVID-19 page, as well as updates from me to our faculty, staff, students, and our alumni and friends. This site has all dean’s office updates and resource pages for faculty, staff, students and external partners.
Many of you have gotten this report already, and some are still awaiting delivery to their inboxes. President Capilouto, Provost Blackwell and others met with deans and academic leadership this morning to go over this plan.
Dear CI Students-
As the Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, I wanted to reach out to you and let you know what we have been planning for our return to campus this fall.
We know this is not how you planned to end your high school career and start a new chapter of your life. We know you chose UK because you fell in love with the campus and the people and our incredible sense of school spirit.
We want you to know that the campus and the people and our incredible spirit are all still here, ready for you this fall.
All of the faculty and staff in the College of Communication and Information are working to provide you with the best possible experience as you begin your journey here, regardless of what form that experience takes.
