Dear CI Community

As we work through the considerable uncertainty surrounding the impact of the worldwide coronavirus threat on our community, we are getting new information constantly from many sources.  We have put this site together to provide college specific information.

Daily Dose of Good News

  • May 22, 2020

Tune in to KET on Monday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET for the premiere of "From Honor to Medal: The Story of Garlin M. Conner," which tells the story of one of the most decorated soldiers of World War II – who received the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor, only after a 20-year campaign by his Kentucky widow and friends. The hour-long documentary tells an inspiring story that is a perfect fit for Memorial Day.

The documentary was produced by Lexington filmmaker Jeff Hoagland and the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky. Al Cross is the executive producer.

Dean's Updates

Friday, May 22 (Faculty and Staff)

To the CI Community,

I know the last month has been even more stressful than what we’re used to in the “new normal” as we’ve worked through an unprecedented budget reduction in the College of Communication and Information. To follow up on the “Next Steps in Our Budget” message from President Capilouto, I wanted to update you on our FY21 budget, which is pending final approval by the Board of Trustees in June.

I will not bury the lede (Google that spelling for some fun journalism history)…..

Friday, April 10 (Faculty and Staff)

Happy Friday!

Sharing a message (below) that just went out to our students about CI Honors Week activities (April 20) and about our May 2020 Celebrating Grads efforts. I know many of you already have participated in making videos for our students, and there will be more to come in the coming week as we celebrate student, faculty and staff achievements at the end of the academic year. We will have our College Excellence Award celebrating faculty and staff in a virtual format the week of April 27.

Friday, April 10 (Students)

Dear CI Students,
In times of uncertainty, it’s easy to overlook what is certain. As Gov. Andy Beshear tells Kentuckians every day at 5 p.m.: “We will get through this. We will get through this together.” This is one thing we know for certain.
We also know with certainty that our students are dedicated, passionate and hard-working. You’ve shown us as much daily during this crisis as you’ve continued the strides you were making before our semester was disrupted.
