March 2015: UK student entrepreneurs place in the money at Idea State U regionals

All four University of Kentucky teams placed in the money at the Idea State U state business competition regionals last weekend. The undergraduate and graduate students won a total $3,000 for presenting their business concepts and business plans to a panel of judges.

Feb. 2015: New sustainable and recyclable consumer products brand wins UK Venture Challenge

University of Kentucky architecture graduate student Mark Manczyk won the UK Venture Challenge and a $1,500 scholarship with his business idea, "re.3." Second place and $1,000 went to Phillip Gordon with "Nomad Apparel." The "FinanceU" team of Michael Lewis and TJ Barnett won third place and $500. UK Venture Challenge was held Feb. 28, at the William T. Young Library UKAA Auditorium.

Feb. 2015: Student entrepreneurs pitch ideas at UK Venture Challenge on Feb. 28

Creative and innovative students from across campus will pitch their business concepts at UK Venture Challenge, sponsored by the Innovation Network for Entrepreneurial Thinking (iNET), on Saturday, Feb. 28, in the William T. Young Library UK Athletics Auditorium. The public is invited to vote online for their favorite team and attend the presentations, which will begin at 9:15 a.m. The winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.

Jan. 2015: UK Venture Challenge registration opens for student entrepreneurs

Student teams can take their ideas to the next level and gain valuable entrepreneurial experience by competing in UK Venture Challenge. Registration is now open for the annual competition to be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at the UK Athletic Association Auditorium in the William T. Young Library. Jan. 2015: Phillip Gordon is UK 150 pitch contest $1,000 winner

The pitches are in, and the winner was picked for the UK 150 contest, the University of Kentucky’s largest online student pitch competition. Phillip Gordon was selected as the winner with his pitch on Nomad Jeans pickpocket-proof pants.
