The Journalism and Media classrooms are web-ready through wireless connectivity and offer programs that allow faculty and students to engage in multimedia interaction.
Our Mac computer teaching labs are equipped for broadcast, print, audio, photojournalism and new media applications. Our students learning about visual media have full access to the Adobe Creative Suite programs including Adobe Premiere Pro non-linear editing on 36 stations, Dreamweaver, InDesign, After Effects animation, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Audition digital sound editing.
Our Media Arts and Studies students have access to a full audio recording studio where they apply classroom instruction to produce award-winning radio programs for the student-run radio station, WRFL-FM. This studio also is used for music production. Students direct live recordings and mastering for local bands and musicians in the region.
Our broadcast and new media facilities include a fully equipped, high-definition television studio and master control room where students produce, anchor news and sports, and report for a live, award-winning newscast Monday through Thursday. It airs on Time-Warner cable to all of Lexington, Kentucky. The broadcast newsroom uses Adobe Premiere Pro non-linear editing and Rundown Creator, an electronic newsroom producing software, to produce newscasts.
Field equipment includes digital newsgathering and production cameras and accessories, DSLR cameras for still photography and videography and digital audio recorders.
