Students in JAM don’t just study media - they make media! Students create media both in their classes (where students may find themselves creating a radio news segment, a video game concept proposal, or a video essay and as part of extra-curricular opportunities within the college.
WRFL
Our students work on the WRFL radio station , an FCC licensed educational radio station and student organization that highlights local news, music, and other programming while providing participants with professional training and opportunities as reporters, hosts, show-runners and managers.
UKSNN
Our students’ work also grace the airwaves on the UK Students News Network, a live daily student-operated news show where students appear as anchors, producers, reporters, sportscasters, and directors both Journalism and Media Arts and Studies participate in the production of this news show for course credit.
Kernel
Aspiring photographers, writers, and reporters also are involved with the Pacemaker Award Winning Kentucky Kernel , an independent student-run newspaper and website with a readership of more than 30,000 that also produces a fashion magazine and a sports magazine.
