The College of Communication and Information’s college-specific CI Career Week, held in October, brought together professionals, employers, alumni and students from various industries to share insights, resources and strategies for career success.
The week’s activities covered a wide range of topics and heard from many different professionals for career success and saw 152 students participate in at least one of the week’s sessions. This included a series of panels, from speaking to previous interns with Ask the Intern, to learning about professionals in social media with Share Your Story: Social Media Professionals Panel, to hearing from recruiters and HR professionals with the Recruiter Panel, to a discussion of communication and reputation management with the PR Panel. Students touched up their resumes with experts at Resumania and met with CI alumni about guidance and tips on their career search and path with Alumni Office Hours. 115 students also came dressed to impress with their elevator pitch at the 2023 Fall College of Communication and Information Career and Internship Fair.
At the Fair, students had a chance to be nominated by employers for a First Impression Award. Junior communication student Alexandrea Shouse won the Best First Impression Award. Shouse is a first-generation college student in the Lewis Honors program and a member Lambda Pi Eta communication honor.
This semester's Career Week brought together potential employers and successful alumni to help CI students explore internship opportunities, connect with accomplished professionals and gain valuable insights into their chosen career path.
