JAM students received national recognition for their work in television news and social media in the 2025 national Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts. Bryce Towle was awarded Second Place TV Short Feature for his story "Local Man Composes ‘Poems 4 Free’ to Strangers around Lexington." Towle and Jackson Redish won Third Place in Social Media for their story "The Effects of Hurricane Helene on UK's Campus." Carlee Hogsten won an Award of Excellence for the TV Long Feature Story "Dropping Bars: Terry Demphord and the Voyage Movement." Edward Smith won an Award of Excellence for Student TV News Reporter for his reporting compilation. "There was a record number of entries this year, with 2285 from over 300 schools. Up 21% from last year. News Division categories and Interactive Media & Emerging Technologies categories--which is where our students were recognized--tend to be extremely competitive," said Prof. Carey Higgins-Dobney, who teaches the School's television newscast course.
