April 25 Declared UK Debate Team Day

Mayor Linda Gorton has declared April 25, 2019, UK Debate Team Day in Lexington to celebrate the team’s season long top national ranking. The proclamation reads as follows:

UK Speech and Debate Places 8th in the Nation

The University of Kentucky Speech and Debate Team placed eighth in the nation at the largest collegiate speech and debate competition in the country, the Pi Kappa Delta National Comprehensive Tournament. This placing extends the teams history of ranking in the top 10 at this national competition to its fourth continuous year and represents a new best placing for the university.

UK Debate Team Finishes Regular Season Strong With Double Victory

The University of Kentucky Debate Team housed in the College of Communication and Information swept two tournaments with impressive victories, placing first and second in two of the nation’s most reputable tournaments.
