$2.5 million gift from Wrigley Miller to support UK College of Communication and Information

Yesterday, the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees formally accepted a $2.5 million gift from philanthropist, entrepreneur, horsewoman and award-winning journalist Misdee Wrigley Miller and her husband — businessman, lifelong horseman and accomplished polo player James Miller — that will support the renovation and expansion of UK’s Pence Hall, the future home of the UK College of Communication and Information.

New Pence podcast studio named

The College of Communication and Information is pleased to announce the naming of the Elizabeth “Scoobie” Ryan Podcast and Multimedia Studio, which will be housed in the newly renovated Pence Hall, set to open in Fall 2025.

4 Wildcats named Fulbrights

The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that four students have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to travel abroad to teach, study or pursue research for the 2023-24 academic year.

Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected based on academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The program operates in more than 140 countries.

Kernel Media Makes In-Person Comeback to Win National Awards

As the University of Kentucky and the United States at large started easing out of restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Kernel Media was able to make its way back to the office full time during the 2021-2022 academic year. The student journalists and content creators of the Kentucky Kernel and KRNL Lifestyle + Fashion could continue the traditions they had to abstain from since March 2020.

Kentucky Kernel Recipient of 2020 James Madison Award

The 2020 recipient of the James Madison Award is the Kentucky Kernel, the independent student newspaper at the University of Kentucky. The James Madison Award is awarded by the Scripps Howard First Amendment Center in the School of Journalism and Media at the UK College of Communication and Information to annually recognize a Kentuckian who has made an outstanding contribution to the First Amendment.

UK's Grehan Associates Awarded National Public Relations Student Society of America Affiliation

Grehan Associates, a student-run marketing and communications firm at the University of Kentucky, has been awarded a National Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) affiliation. The firm is housed in and advised by the College of Communication and Information, but firm membership is open to any student at UK.
