The value of internship experience while in college, cannot be understated. The National Association of Colleges and Employers reported in 2017 that research shows “students graduating with internship experience…are more likely than students without those experiences to find employment upon graduation.”

To this end, to help our students, the College of Communication and Information is hosting an Internship and Career Fair, along with a variety of  supporting events. All events are open to any student in any major in the College of Communication and Information.

Internship and Career Fair: Wednesday, March 27, 1-4 p.m., Ballroom C, Gatton Student Center

On Wednesday, March 27, the Internship and Career Fair will take place from 1-4 p.m. in Ballroom C of the Gatton Student Center. A number of employers will be on site looking for students to fill a variety of roles and positions that will help students gain valuable skills and make professional connections.

Rachel Hoover, the Assistant Director of Career Advising at the Stuckert Career Center, is hosting a Handshake Overview/Job Fair Etiquette session and two Resume Review sessions leading up to the Internship and Career Fair.

Handshake Overview/Job Fair Etiquette: Wednesday, March 20, 12-1 p.m., 12A Blazer Dining

This session will help students prepare for the Internship and Career Fair and give them an introduction to Handshake, an online recruiting platform.

Resume Review: Wednesday, March 20, 1-4:30 p.m., 12A Blazer Dining Thursday, March 21, 2-4:30 p.m., 303 Lucille Little Library

These drop-in sessions will help students prepare their first resume or polish up their current resume and provide valuable tips for making students appear more marketable in their internship and/or career search.

Internship Information Session: Thursday, March 28, 5 p.m., 12A Blazer Dining

Any student wanting more information about College of Communication and Information internships is encouraged to attend this information session. Representatives from each program will be on hand to discuss internship requirements and the process of securing internships as part of graduation requirements (if applicable).
