An Instructional Communication and Research Shining Star recipient, Karis Wilson is a senior Integrated Strategic Communication Major from the Metro Atlanta area. During her time at the University of Kentucky she has been involved with CI Ambassadors, UK Sports Zone, Ronald McDonald House of Charities, and the YMCA.

Karis currently works in the dean’s office for the College of Communication and Information and is also interning for College's Living Learning Program.

When she’s not in class she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising outside, attending UK’s sporting events, and writing about UK sports athletes and obstacles they’ve overcome.

One thing that makes her unique is her career aspirations. Her goal is to own her own cable network that shares life and inspirational stories. She will also create a nonprofit organization that helps disadvantage youth in Powder Springs, GA as well as other cities in the Metro Atlanta area.

What she is most passionate about is helping others achieve their goals and telling their stories. She is an ambitious, fun-loving person who is looking forward to meeting tons of new faces and welcomes students to become a part of one of the best colleges and educational institutions in the southeast.
