Monday, June 22 (Faculty and Staff)
All,
All,
Many of you have gotten this report already, and some are still awaiting delivery to their inboxes. President Capilouto, Provost Blackwell and others met with deans and academic leadership this morning to go over this plan.
Dear CI Students-
As the Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, I wanted to reach out to you and let you know what we have been planning for our return to campus this fall.
We know this is not how you planned to end your high school career and start a new chapter of your life. We know you chose UK because you fell in love with the campus and the people and our incredible sense of school spirit.
We want you to know that the campus and the people and our incredible spirit are all still here, ready for you this fall.
All of the faculty and staff in the College of Communication and Information are working to provide you with the best possible experience as you begin your journey here, regardless of what form that experience takes.
To the CI Community,
I know the last month has been even more stressful than what we’re used to in the “new normal” as we’ve worked through an unprecedented budget reduction in the College of Communication and Information. To follow up on the “Next Steps in Our Budget” message from President Capilouto, I wanted to update you on our FY21 budget, which is pending final approval by the Board of Trustees in June.
I will not bury the lede (Google that spelling for some fun journalism history)…..
Monday begins a full week of celebrating our outstanding student achievement through CI Honors Week. All of you are part of that student success, and we thank you for helping our students achieve so much.
Happy Friday!
Sharing a message (below) that just went out to our students about CI Honors Week activities (April 20) and about our May 2020 Celebrating Grads efforts. I know many of you already have participated in making videos for our students, and there will be more to come in the coming week as we celebrate student, faculty and staff achievements at the end of the academic year. We will have our College Excellence Award celebrating faculty and staff in a virtual format the week of April 27.
Dear CI Students,
In times of uncertainty, it’s easy to overlook what is certain. As Gov. Andy Beshear tells Kentuckians every day at 5 p.m.: “We will get through this. We will get through this together.” This is one thing we know for certain.
We also know with certainty that our students are dedicated, passionate and hard-working. You’ve shown us as much daily during this crisis as you’ve continued the strides you were making before our semester was disrupted.
CI Alumni and Friends,
As we enter our third week of fully online instruction, I wanted to check in with you and let you know we are all thinking of you. I also wanted to update you on how the College of Communication and Information is progressing as we now work to put our summer offerings online and continue for the time being as a fully remote operation.
All,
I wanted to follow up on President Capilouto’s message (below) about the state budget that sits on Gov. Beshear’s desk. As the president notes, the budget is for one year only, a switch from recent years but a necessary move given the economic situation facing the Commonwealth. Lawmakers will come back in January (or sooner) to work on the budget for the second part of the biennium.
