ABOUT
The Downtown Studio is a 20,000 square-foot studio, production center and learning/research laboratory near Rupp Arena in the Central Bank Center in the heart of downtown Lexington. The state-of-the-art facility, a collaboration between the UK College of Communication and Information, UK Athletics and JMI Sports will provide students opportunities to work side-by-side with professionals producing broadcast news, sports programming, promotions and other digital content for distribution.

A love letter to Lexington

New studio puts CI in the spotlight
The College of Communication and Information, in partnership with University of Kentucky Athletics and JMI Sports, in October 2024 officially opened its state-of-the-art downtown studio and production space near Rupp Arena, inside Lexington’s Central Bank Center. The first students will begin classes in the new CI studio in January 2025.
Innovative New Studio Space Will Take Media Education, Research to Next Level at UK
The state-of-the-art facility – a partnership with the college, UK Athletics and JMI Sports – will create a high-tech collaborative space where students can learn alongside media production and sports marketing and communication professionals, said Jennifer Greer, dean of UK’s College of Communication and Information.
