Bio: 

Jihye Kim is an assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication. Kim received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2015. Her research interests include advertising and public relations strategies, digital communication, cause-related marketing, and health communication. Her research has been published in Journal of Interactive Advertising, Management Decision, Journal of Marketing Communications, Journal of Promotion Management, and International Journal of Business and Management, among others. Kim was the recipient of the American Academy of Advertising Doctoral Dissertation Award, the UF Graduate School Doctoral Dissertation Award, and best paper awards at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and International Journal of Advertising. She has taught digital strategies, research methods, international advertising, media planning, and health communication campaign.

Bio: 

Hyun Ju Jeong (Ph. D., Michigan State University) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication at the University of Kentucky. Her primary area of research focuses on the strategic use of digital media for consumer engagement and community relations. For example, she explores whether and what degree social media features (e.g. self-expressive, transparent) improve the effectiveness of strategic communication for-profits and non-profit by enhancing consumer engagement. Her second research interest is in young consumer behaviors with an emphasis on their buying and giving behaviors using digital media. Her scholastic work has been published in Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Health Communication, Media Psychology and more. She has taught courses in ISC ethics and law, research methods, public relations planning, public relations cases, and social media marketing.

Bio: 

Laura Fischer is an assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication at the University of Kentucky. She received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Master of Science in Agricultural Education and Communication from the University of Florida, and her Ph.D. in Agricultural Communications from Texas Tech University. Her primary focus is teaching students how to strategically produce advertisements through the use of graphic and visual design, creative and critical thinking, and independent thinking. In addition to teaching course work in creative advertising, she is interested in pedagogical research surrounding writing and creativity in the classroom. Her scholarly interests are focused in the use of persuasive communication to change behaviors, attitudes, and awareness of scientific issues. She is also interested in understanding how individuals psychologically process and allocate attention to information, visuals, and media stimuli.

Kimberly A. Parker, (Ph.D., 2004, University of Oklahoma) is an Associate Professor in the College of Communication and Information and the iNET (Innovation Network for Entrepreneurial Thinking) Director. Dr. Parker has over 15 years’ experience working with non-profits in the area of social change campaigns and social entrepreneurship. Recently, she completed a year-long certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Kimberly's research has appeared in communication journals, including Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, Journal of Public Relations Research, Communication Quarterly, Communication Research Reports, and Health Communication.

Bio: 

Bobi Ivanov (Ph.D., University of Oklahoma) is Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in Communication and Professor of Integrated Strategic Communication in the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication at the University of Kentucky. He studies strategic message design, consumer behavior, and strategic communications. He has primarily taught marketing, communication, research, and strategic communication related courses in number of different departments/units. His main research interests concern social influence (persuasion and resistance) and message design, processing, and retention. Ivanov’s theoretical work focuses on the study of inoculation theory, images, and attitudes and their composition, hierarchical structure, and function as applied in various contexts including commercial, health, intercultural, instructional/educational, interpersonal, political, and risk/crisis management. His scholarship has appeared in numerous presentations (five top paper awards), books, book chapters, and journal publications such as Communication Monographs, Communication Research, Human Communication Research, The International Journal of the Image, Communication Reports, Journal of Communication, Iowa Journal of Communication, The Global Studies Journal, Health Communication, Journal of Public Relations Research, Western Journal of Communication, Communication Yearbook, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Central Business Review, Communication Research Reports, and Atlantic Marketing Journal, among other. He has also worked as a Market Research Analyst at Consumer Data Service (CDS) and Insight Market Research and Consulting (Insight). He remains an active research consultant with Insight.
