JAM Independent Study

JAM 395 Independent Study in JAM, may be done for one, two or three credits.

In order to do an independent study, you’ll need to find a full-time JAM faculty member who is willing to work with you. You’ll be working closely with that faculty member throughout the semester.

The topic of your independent study needs to be something that is (a) JAM-related and (b) not covered in the current JAM curriculum, at least not in depth. Independent study proposals that duplicate existing JAM courses will not be approved.

Once you’ve found a faculty member willing to work with you and discussed the independent study with them in detail, fill out this form.

Why is independent study approach appropriate (as opposed to a regular course)?

Outline your overall plan of study, including progress deadlines.

Evaluation - On what will your grade be based (tests, paper, video, etc.?) How is it to be evaluated (by whom, on what basis, etc.?)

Conference Schedule - Indicate the approximate schedule for student-supervisor conferences on the project. The student is responsible for arranging specific dates and times. The supervisor should be available for regular meetings during the semester.
