Tom Lindlof

Tom joined the UK faculty in 1984.  He previously held faculty positions at Penn State University and the University of Iowa.  His research publications have appeared in numerous scholarly outlets, including Communication ResearchJournalism StudiesJournalism QuarterlyJournal of Broadcasting & Electronic MediaJournal of Communication, and Communication Yearbook. Tom has written or edited seven books. These include the best-selling textbook, Qualitative Communication Research Methods (4th edition), co-authored with Bryan C. Taylor, and Hollywood under Siege: Martin Scorsese, the Religious Right, and the Culture Wars, which was praised by The Los Angeles Times as “both profound and extremely entertaining” and by The Times of London as “one of the best available accounts of how Hollywood works.” Tom served as the editor of Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media and was appointed to numerous editorial boards during his career. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award of the Broadcast Education Association.  Tom currently lives in Austin, Texas.
