Founded in 1908 and independent since 1972, the Kentucky Kernel is the non-profit, student-run newspaper for the University of Kentucky. The Kernel offers the most extensive news coverage of the UK campus and surrounding metropolitan area.

Wildcat News

Wildcat News is the live newscast produced by students in JOU 404, Advanced TV News and Reporting, during the fall and spring semesters. Wildcat News students learn how to write scripts, gather video, edit stories, produce shows and report live news and sports for the UK community and beyond. The Picture Kentucky Workshop was founded in 2004 by Chris Poore and Dave LaBelle as an immersive photojournalism experience for students. Participants spend four days learning in small groups from professional coaches from around the country in the skills of documentary photojournalism and short film making.
