Our mission is to provide broader, more systemic and interdisciplinary approaches for understanding how to manage risks and crises. We do this through community‐based efforts that engage key community leaders to enhance risk and crisis assessment, management, and communication research and practice. Risk Sciences faculty are members of the Community Emergency Response Team and the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and assist in risk and crisis communication training and assessment across campus and throughout the community. We also work directly with public and private organizations, emergency management, fire, police, and public health in a variety of capacities to make sure the research we do is meaningful to responders in the field.
