- About us
We are part of the College of Communication and Information, the official iSchool of the University of Kentucky, and are proud to educate burgeoning professionals in the information field at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
Undergraduate Programs and Courses
At the undergraduate level, the School currently offers a minor in Information Studies and a major in Information Communication Technology for students at the university. There are also several ICT courses available that are approved to fulfill UK Core credit for University of Kentucky students. SIS houses Instructional Communication & Research which offers the Composition and Communication (CIS) sequence that is part of UK Core requirements.
At the graduate level, we offer master's degree programs in Library and Information Science (LIS) and Information Communication Technology (ICT). The LIS program is completely online (with the option to take the four core classes face to face or online) and covers 9 tracks including certification in school librarianship. The ICT master's program is primarily face-to-face with some online offerings. Students apply using the UK Graduate School's Apply Yourself portal. Applicants will need to submit the application, GRE scores, transcripts, personal statement, letters of recommendation and a small processing fee.
