Application Overview
The College of Communication and Information Graduate Program in Communication scholarship application will open early January and will close in March.
To be eligible for a College of Communication and Information Graduate Program in Communication scholarship applicants must:
Be admitted to the University of Kentucky in the College of Communication and Information Graduate Program in Communication.
We offer two types of funding: Scholarships and Awards.
Scholarships: Please submit the application materials listed below.
Awards: Are selected by the graduate award committee or you can also approach a faculty member and tell them you would like to be nominated. If nominated, you will be contacted by the committee to submit application materials.
If awarded a scholarship or award:
Write a thank you letter to the donor that has funded your opportunity.
Attend the CI Student Awards ceremony in the spring of your award year.
CI Graduate Program in Communication scholarships are for one academic year, in two equal amounts, for the fall and spring semesters. Students must re-apply in the spring semester of each year.

Funding Opportunities in the Graduate Program in Communication
*Denotes an award that requires faculty nomination. If nominated, you will be contacted by the graduate awards committee to submit additional materials for consideration.
This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who shows excellence in mass communication theory and research. The scholarship honors the memory of Bruce H. Westley, a former professor in the College and director of the School of Journalism.
This endowment was established to support fellowships for graduate and doctoral students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership traits and intend to pursue a career in health communications. Funds may also be used to support health research conferences and meetings.
This endowment was established to provide a fellowship for a graduate student in the College of Communication and Information engaged in research with an emphasis on cancer control and/or cancer communications.

Eligible students for the Dissertation Year Award are those who would have defended their qualifying exams. The awarded student will not have any responsibilities related to teaching, assisting or research attached to the fellowship. The intent of the fellowship is to allow the student to fully immerse themselves in the dissertation work.

This endowment was established in 1988 to award a graduate scholarship to a student in the College of Communication and Information whose emphasis is in personal, organizational or mass communications research. The recipient should demonstrate academic excellence.
