Intercollegiate Debate

Founded in 1872, the University of Kentucky debate program is committed to promoting competitive speech and debate opportunities on and beyond our campus. Spanning decades, the team has been one of the most nationally competitive in the country. Its long list of accolades includes two National Debate Tournament Championships, two Copeland Awards (recognizing the top partnership in the country) and six National Debate Tournament Top Speakers (second all time). Recognizing the significant educational and social benefits of debate, the program is involved in an expansive array of outreach efforts to expand access at all levels of education. These efforts include local, national and international initiatives. The program hosts over a dozen events annually involving thousands of students from around the world.

We welcome questions regarding our program. Please feel free to contact
