The Department of Integrated Strategic Communication has many opportunities for undergraduate students to obtain scholarship funding.
 

ScholarshipUniverse

The College of Communication and Information utilizes ScholarshipUniverse, an online scholarship platform, to connect current and prospective students with College, UK and national scholarship opportunities and easily manage scholarship applications.

All scholarship applications besides the library sciences graduate scholarships are now located in ScholarshipUniverse. Both current students and prospective students with a linkblue ID can login to complete the student profile and search and apply for internal and external scholarship opportunities.

ISC Scholarships

This scholarship honors the memory of Adam Altman, a former student in the College and son of ISC professor Dennis Altman. The scholarship is awarded to an ISC major who exhibits creativity in the discipline.

This fund was established in 2005 to honor Bernie Vonderheide. Bernie Vonderheide spent 23 years of his public relations career speaking on behalf of the University of Kentucky. This scholarship is open to undergraduate students with a major in integrated strategic communication, who demonstrate interest in public relations as a career and have journalistic writing experience on or off campus.

The endowment was established to provide scholarships for students who are graduates of a high school located in Pike, Letcher, Harlan or Floyd counties in Kentucky.

Upper Division students only. Established in 1990, these scholarships are awarded to two juniors and two seniors that demonstrate the potential for academic success and show need for financial assistance. 

Established in 2011, the scholarship is available to a student in the Integrated Strategic Communication Department, who is a junior or senior within the Department.

This scholarship honors the memory of James C. Bowling, a renowned public relations executive who established a very successful career with Philip Morris, Inc. The scholarship is awarded to a senior ISC student that represents the attributes of Bowling and plans to enter the business world of public relations. 

This scholarship supports ISC majors that are enrolled full-time in the College, show professional promise, demonstrate the characteristics of desire, education, and determination, and/or exhibit economic need, and/or are walk-on student-athletes at UK participating in an equivalency sport that is not fully funded. The scholarship was created in memory of Jeremy Streck, a 1999 ISC graduate and UK student-athlete.

This endowment was established to award a scholarship to an incoming freshman or returning undergraduate who declares his/her major in the School of Journalism and Media.

This endowment was established to award scholarships to students who are pre-majors or majors in integrated strategic communication, and who demonstrate the qualities embodied by Professor Roth of tenacity, determination, commitment, leadership, service and involvement.

Scholarship is awarded to students who have completed their junior year as an ISC major; meet the ISC internship pre-requisites set by the School and have successfully completed a summer internship or plan to complete an internship in summer 2015. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA in ISC courses with at least a 2.5 GPA overall.

This fund supports a full-time adult learner as defined by the endowment. An adult learner is defined as a student who has responsibilities other than those of a traditional student (i.e. is a single parent or employed full-time). A 500-word essay is required describing your status as an adult learner. Student must show financial need. The scholarship honors Shirley Rose, a 40-year UK employee and undergraduate advisor for the college. Rose retired in 2001.

Established in 2023, the Susan Eskridge Hamburg – Adelaide Connella Scholarship is named in memory of Susan Eskridge Hamburg (1957-2022) and her great-grandmother Adelaide Connella (1887-1989). Susan was a 1979 UK graduate and then founded a successful communications, promotions and events management company. She also co-founded USPR, a public relations group with members across the United States and the world. In 1906, Susan's great- grandmother Adelaide was among the first women to live in Patterson Hall – UK’s first women’s dormitory. Adelaide’s accomplishments as an early female student and then as a teacher inspired her great-granddaughter’s later success. Support of the Susan Eskridge Hamburg – Adelaide Connella Scholarship honors the legacy of both women and provides scholarship support to integrated strategic communication students.

This endowment was established to provide a scholarship to a declared pre-major or major in the School of Journalism and Media. The recipient should be a resident of Henderson County, Kentucky, show an interest in public affairs reporting and demonstrate financial need.

This fund supports an outstanding ISC major. The award honors the memory of Schulte, an associate professor of advertising in the School of Journalism and Telecommunications for nine years.

This fund supports students that exhibit academic excellence and dedication to a career in the mass media and communication industries.
