The scholarship honors Shirley Rose, a 40-year UK employee and undergraduate advisor for the college. Rose retired in 2001.
Established in 2023, the Susan Eskridge Hamburg – Adelaide Connella Scholarship is named in memory of Susan Eskridge Hamburg (1957-2022) and her great-grandmother Adelaide Connella (1887-1989). Susan was a 1979 UK graduate and then founded a successful communications, promotions and events management company. She also co-founded USPR, a public relations group with members across the United States and the world. In 1906, Susan's great- grandmother Adelaide was among the first women to live in Patterson Hall – UK’s first women’s dormitory. Adelaide’s accomplishments as an early female student and then as a teacher inspired her great-granddaughter’s later success. Support of the Susan Eskridge Hamburg – Adelaide Connella Scholarship honors the legacy of both women and provides scholarship support to integrated strategic communication students.
