Undergraduate students may pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science option for their degree with tracks in commercialization, technology management, information studies and custom.
 

Degree Requirements

There are four concentration areas for ICT undergraduates, including commercialization, technology management, information studies (only available online) and custom. Students in the information studies online track are specially admitted - please click here for further details.

It's always important to speak with your instructors and academic advisor before registering for courses so you are aware of your standing in terms of course pre-requisites, UK Core courses and graduation requirements. Degree requirements below may be subject to change. It's important to check with your advisor to make sure you are up-to-date with your course planning.

  • 120 credit hours (EXCLUDES: KHP service courses, EXP courses and remedial courses)
  • 30 credit hours of UK Core* requirements (three credit hours each)
    • Arts and Creativity
    • Humanities
    • Social Sciences
    • Natural/Physical/Mathematical
    • Composition & Communication I (CIS/WRD 110)
    • Composition and Communication II  (CIS/WRD 111)
    • Quantitative Foundations (MA 111, PHI 120 or other approved course)
    • Statistical Inferential Reasoning
    • Community, Culture and Citizenship in the USA
    • Global Dynamics
  • Three credit hours of University Graduate Writing requirements (ICT 300 or ICT 305)
  • 42 credit hours at the 300 level or above
  • 2.00 cumulative GPA and 2.00 major GPA required

* Some IS/ICT courses may also count towards UK Core requirements. Please check with your academic advisor for details.
 

B.A. Degree
  • Either the 202 level of a foreign language or six credits hours in LIN
  • STA 210
B.S. Degree
  • Nine credit hours in MA, STA or CS beyond UK Core, of which three credits must be in STA
  • 60 credits of science courses with at least 48 of those credits outside the College of Communication and Information

  • ICT 200 Information Literacy and Critical Thinking
  • ICT 201 Personal Knowledge Management
  • ICT 202 Technologies for Information Services

  • 15 credit hours (300+ level) outside the major.
  • Can be any collection of courses selected in conjunction with your advisor.

ICT Program Tracks

The commercialization track focuses on ICT as an enabling tool to drive economic growth.

Focus Area - nine credit hours
Choose three courses from the following:

  • ICT 410 Privacy
  • IS 402 Competitive Intelligence
  • ICT 406 eCommerce Regulation**

Electives - six credit hours
Select any two 300+ level IS or ICT courses in conjunction with your advisor.

The technology management track focuses on using technology to provide a stable operating environment.

Focus Area - nine credit hours
Choose three courses from the following:

  • ICT 406 e-Commerce Regulation**
