Master's in Library Science Scholarships

Hallie Day Blackburn Scholarship

This scholarship supports students that seek careers in public libraries. The award honors the late Hallie Day Blackburn who worked for many years for the Kentucky State Library.


Helen E. Fry Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of Helen Fry, a 1934 School of Information Science graduate.


John Thomas Durham Graduate Student Fund

This endowment was established to provide support and enrich the experiences of graduate students within the School of Library and Information Science who work at the University of Kentucky Libraries.


Lois Mai Chan SLIS Student Enrichment Fund

This endowment was established to support students enrolled in the School of Library and Information Science.


Melody Trosper Award

This award is presented annually to a graduate student in SLIS for excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. This fund honors the memory of Melody Trosper. She completed her SLIS degree in 1980 and shortly afterwards was killed in an automobile accident.


 


Application Overview

To be eligible for a College of Communication and Information Library Science scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be admitted to University of Kentucky in the Library Science program.
  2. Complete the Library Science application.
  3. Write a thank you letter to the donor that has funded your scholarship.

CI scholarships are awarded for one academic year, in one amount for the fall semester. Students must re-apply each year.
