The Department of Communication is most noted for our emphasis in health communication. Our faculty members have received extramural funding coming from sources such as the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute of Nursing Research and the Department of Homeland Security. Our faculty also engages in non-funded research, ranging from a relationship development to organizational safety to cancer communication.

Kentucky Conference on Health Communication
Since 1989, the Kentucky Conference on Health Communication has served as a venue for health communication researchers, practitioners and students to come together to share research on a variety of health-related topics and discuss current health communication issues, as well as to develop working relationships to promote the health communication research agenda.
