The Picture Kentucky Photojournalism Workshop is an immersive course experience that allows students to spend four days documenting the people and places of Kentucky. For three years, the course has focused on Kentucky's capital city of Frankfort in Franklin County.
Student attendees randomly select a story assignment and are then paired with a professional coach, volunteering at the workshop, to help them navigate how to tell their stories. Students then spend the remainder of the workshop following and photographing their subjects in and around Franklin County to produce a final photo story.
The workshop is available for class credit as an elective if you are a UK journalism student. Students can register for JOU 497 Picture Kentucky Workshop through controlled enrollment and earn two credit hours. Contact David Stephenson for more information.
