Gidel/Lombardo Lecture Series

The Gidel/Lombardo Family Fund for Academic and Program Excellence was established in 2006 by Robert and Linda Gidel and members the Lombardo family. This fund honors their son, Robert (Rob) W. Gidel, a 2006 graduate of the School of Journalism and Telecommunications.

Richard G. Wilson Alumni Symposium

Outstanding alumni are invited back for an annual spring symposium to talk about their careers, the path to that first job, what they wished they had done differently in college and other advice. The symposium was started by former Courier Journal reporter and Hall of Fame journalist Richard G. “Dick” Wilson when he served as interim director. The symposium was continued and named in his honor. Wilson died April 4, 2023.

David V. Hawpe, whose journalism career had major impacts on Kentucky and its largest university, was remembered by those who worked with him at “Remembering David Hawpe: A Symposium at the University of Kentucky” on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021.

Meet the new editor: Lexington Herald-Leader's Rick Green
