His company, co-founded with Kaelaan Maynor, helps people, employers and benefit partners navigate disability and leave with clarity, speed and financial stability. Brown and Maynor's partnership eventually landed them on the 2026 Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Impact list.

Scott Horn, co-director of the Kentucky Open Government Coalition and the 2024 James Madison Award winner, will deliver the State of the First Amendment Address at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the J. David Rosenberg College of Law’s Grand Courtroom. The address is titled "Algorithms of Speech: Free Expression in the Era of Al." The James Madison Award presentation will follow.

The University of Kentucky School of Journalism and Media and its Scripps Howard First Amendment Center present the award annually.
Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes is scheduled to deliver the Joe Creason Lecture from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in the Singletary Center for the Arts Recital Hall. Attendance is free and open to the public.
