School of Journalism and Media assistant professor featured in state and international film festivals

Beecher Reuning, assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Media participated in multiple film festivals in September 2023. Two productions that Reuning was involved in were nominated for state and international awards.
The Twelve Lions Film Festival, hosted at the historic Kentucky Theater in downtown Lexington, awarded Reuning with the Best Use of Music award for a feature film they produced, “The Good People of Orphan Ridge.” This film follows the journey of an indie rock band that records their last album together in a haunted house.
A pilot episode that Reuning co-wrote and directed, “Plot Device,” was featured in the Twelve Lions Film Festival, and the SOHO Film Festival in New York as well. The pilot introduces Andy and his wife, Charlotte, who has recently left him. Andy’s life gets turned upside-down when he finds a magical device that introduces him to new worlds and perspectives on life.
