Living Learning Program

The University of Kentucky's Living Learning Program (LLP) is a program that allows students to live and learn together in a specific community with shared living spaces, specialized programming and opportunities for community engagement within the residence halls on campus. The College of Communication and Information is proud to offer the CI Connect LLP as an option for our first-and second-year students. Come “connect” with us!  
 

What is the CI Connect Living Learning Program?

The CI Connect Living Learning Program offers an exciting opportunity for first- and second-year students who have declared a major in the College of Communication and Information the opportunity to “connect” with other students, college faculty and staff all from the comfort of an elite north campus residence, Jewell Hall.  

All CI Connect LLP students will enroll in one connected course in the fall semester and one connected course in the spring semester. These courses are specifically designed for majors in the College of Communication and Information and focus on personal and career development during the college years.  

CI Connect students will also participate in a wide variety of programs available every month. Programs will offer training and information on topics specific to individual majors and projects beneficial to all majors in the College. Most importantly, programs will provide students with the tools and the resources to reach their highest potential within the College of Communication and Information. 

 


Why should I join the CI Connect LLP?

Studies show that participation in an LLP can lead to: 

  • Increased GPA 
  • Successful and steady progress toward degree 
  • An increased sense of community, even in a large university 
  • Engagement with faculty, staff and students 
  • Participation in connected courses and academic experiences they would not have access to otherwise 
     

Who can join the CI Connect LLP?

Both first- and second-year students are eligible to participate in the LLP. First-year students must have a high school GPA of 2.6 or higher to be accepted. The second-year program for CI Connect is intended for transfer students and sophomores who participated in the first-year program. Content and connected courses in the second-year program are focused on leadership development with special service-learning projects included.
