Undergraduate Research Fellowships

Starting in 2021, the UK Office of Undergraduate Research allocated funds to each college to support undergraduate research initiatives. These funds will be centrally held by the CI Business Center to support joint and collaborative research efforts and for support of undergraduate students across units in the form of research fellowships. These funds can be used for undergraduate research at any time during the year.

  • Any faculty member is eligible to nominate an undergraduate research fellow. Advanced doctoral students may also nominate an undergraduate research fellow, under the supervision of a faculty member.
  • Criteria used to aid in selection of undergraduate research fellows should include:
    • major in the College of Communication and Information
    • in good standing
    • junior or senior
    • strong academic performance

  • Students must be nominated by a faculty member or advanced doctoral student and complete a contract. The nomination form and contract can be found here.
  • You will be notified by the assistant dean of student success when your nomination and contract have been reviewed and whether it has been approved to be funded.
  • CI mentors and undergraduate researchers who receive funding should participate in at least one of the research presentation opportunities organized by OUR and should complete any of the assessment metrics distributed by OUR.
