EOLIA, Ky.—On a windy January afternoon in Appalachia, a school bus swiped a coal truck coming around a bend, tumbling 30 feet down an embankment and coming to rest in a shallow creek. Of the 22 students and one adult taken to the hospital, the most severely injured was 6-year-old Gunner, whose cheek was sliced along the bone to the ear, requiring a four-hour surgery. A few weeks later, Gunner and his first-grade classmates filed into the gym of Arlie Boggs Elementary School to hear from their governor.
JAM faculty members Al Cross and David Stephenson are cited in this Wall Street Journal article profiling Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
Cross is cited as a political expert and Stephenson's photo appears in the article, available here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/kentucky-governor-andy-beshear-democrat-red-state-092e35d4?st=1p6cofc7483raph&reflink=article_imessage_share
