Nancy Loughridge Green
Biography
Nancy Loughridge Green taught and advised student media in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana before returning to UK to lead the transition of the student daily, The Kernel, to independence. She also worked at the Wall Street Journal’s summer programs, which introduced minority high school students to careers in journalism.
Green joined Gannett in 1985 as a publisher in Richmond, Indiana, and she later joined Gannett corporate in Washington, D.C. At Gannett corporate, she worked with master’s students in marketing programs at colleges in Illinois, Michigan and Georgia.
Green then joined Lee Enterprises in 2000 and was named vice president of circulation in 2002 working with 26 dailies. In 2010, Green returned to Richmond, Indiana and joined the Ivy Tech Community College Indiana system in marketing and recruitment at the Richmond Region campus.
Green was named a Distinguished Alumna of the School of Journalism at Kentucky and was inducted into the UK Journalism Hall of Fame and Ball State University Hall of Fame. In 2017, she was awarded the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission Award for Public Service and Humanity in Richmond.
Green received a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Kentucky, a master’s in journalism at Ball State University and a doctorate degree in instructional technology and distance education at Nova Southeastern University.
