Ty Halpin
Biography
Ty Halpin is the Director of Division I Football at the National Collegiate Athletic Association and has been with the Association since March of 1999. Through his 22 years with the NCAA, Halpin has had a variety of positions, serving as staff liaison for numerous committees in the governance structure. Most recently, Halpin has worked with the Division I Football Oversight Committee to manage the rules governing all activities for the sport. Halpin also helps lead the playing rules and officiating efforts for college football and handles the certification process for postseason bowl games.
On the officiating side, Halpin serves as the NCAA’s liaison to several officiating groups, including College Football Officiating, LLC. Halpin also helps maintain the NCAA’s partnership with ArbiterSports, LLC, which provides tools for officiating education and management of assigning and payment of game officials for all NCAA championships.
Before coming to the NCAA, Halpin worked at Transylvania University in a dual role as an assistant athletics director and administrator in the office of the President. Prior to joining the Transylvania staff, Halpin was a postgraduate intern at the University of Kentucky, gaining valuable experience in game management, marketing, sports information and administration.
Halpin graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1996 with a degree in journalism and earned a master’s degree in sports management at California University.
