Kaufmann named acting associate dean for graduate programs in communication
Renee Kaufmann
Renee Kaufmann, associate professor in the School of Information Science, has been named the acting associate dean for graduate programs in communication, effective immediately.
Kaufmann has a long history with CI, starting in 2009 as a graduate teaching assistant. After completing CI's Ph.D. program, she taught at Indiana University East before returning to the School of Information Science in 2016. Since then, Kaufmann has taught ICT and CIS undergraduate courses and graduate level courses in CI, as well as in the Lewis Honors College. Kaufmann has also been instrumental in helping propose, develop and promote the ICT online degree completion program for SIS. Kaufmann also holds the Reynolds Professorship in Engineering and is the editor of the Journal of Communication Pedagogy. In 2023, she was appointed as the assistant dean of the Graduate Programs in Communication, a new position developed to assist the previous associate dean for graduate programs in serving our graduate students and faculty.
"I am honored to lead the program and work with the next generation of communication researchers and educators," Kaufmann said.
Kaufmann will hold this acting appointment for one-year, with a full search for a permanent associate dean commencing in Spring 2025.
