From near and far, librarians and MSLS students join SIS for UK Libraries tour
MSLS students and librarians tour UK Libraries
In November 2023, the School of Information Science arranged a tour of the University of Kentucky’s Libraries for library science graduate students and librarians throughout the state. The event was an opportunity for students to meet each other and meet some professors from the program in person, instead of the regular online meet-ups the fully online program offers.
A total of 22 students, librarians and faculty attended the event. With the library science master’s program being entirely online, many of the students do not currently reside in the state of Kentucky. One student participant drove to the UK campus from Columbus, Ohio, in addition to three librarians from the Pike County Public Library.
A major goal for the event was to strengthen the School of Information Science’s connections to the University of Kentucky Libraries and with the success of this event, more tours are planned for the future, including a tour of the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives in Frankfort in the Spring 2024 semester.
