Sims to speak on 'Finding Your Place and Purpose in Career or Academia'

Join the College of Communication and Information DEI Committee for "Finding Your Place and Purpose in Career or Academia," a lecture with award-winning educator Jeanetta Sims. The lecture is free and open to the public and will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 in the Young Library Auditorium.
Sims’ lecture will focus finding and pursuing one’s purpose despite the challenges one may face. Sims will share her journey from first-generation student to Hall of Fame educator. The goal of the lecture is for attendees to discover or re-discover an appreciation for their own path and learn strategies for nurturing and unleashing their inner genius.
Sims is currently an accredited public relations professional, National Communication Association first vice president and professor in the Department of Marketing at the University of Central Oklahoma. In 2023, she was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame and recognized as Oklahoma Christian University’s Distinguished Alumna of the Year. Sims is also the CEO and founder of Genius in Collaboration, home to the Impeccable Leader Institute, an organization supporting professionals in discovering their inner and collective genius.
In addition to her academic achievements, Sims serves as a motivational speaker, collaborative consultant and executive coach for individuals and organizations. Through workshops, strategy sessions, speaking, courses, one-on-one sessions and group coaching, she has helped thousands of individuals enhance their personal and professional lives so they can be inspired, encouraged and challenged to unleash genius.
