This award is given to students that are full-time juniors or seniors and have demonstrated excellence in writing. It is the donors request that one print and one broadcast award be awarded. Students are asked to submit original work in support of their entry. The award honors the memory of Sy Ramsey, a Frankfort State Capitol correspondent for The Associated Press for 21 years. Ramsey is a member of the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame (1984).
