My communication degree has allowed me to intern for UK Athletics Communications while I pursue my master's in sports leadership at UK.
What is your favorite thing about your job?:
I get to use the things I’ve learned in undergrad and merge it with my passion of sports to write feature stories, recaps and other communication needs.
What¹s the most valuable thing you learned in CI?:
One of the things I love most about CI is that you learn a little bit of everything. You learn journalism, whether print or broadcast; you learn interpersonal communication; you learn public relations, marketing and branding, regardless of what your actual major is. I think this is helpful in making you a better student but also makes you more well rounded when you enter the workforce, and it definitely sets you apart from others.
What advice would you give to current CI students?:
Give yourself grace. Whether that’s with an assignment that didn’t go well, or with trying to find jobs or internships. Things will happen the way they need to. Put your best foot forward, but don’t dwell on things that don’t go as planned.
