Where has your CI degree taken you?:
My CI degree has taken me to my dream job! I am using my communication background to inform people about environmental issues and how they can help. It’s incredibly rewarding.
What is your favorite thing about your job?:
My favorite thing about my job is that I’m never doing the same thing from one day to the next. On any given day, I could be working an outreach event, creating social media content for Live Green Lexington or writing and recording radio spots. Probably my favorite thing is all of the people I get to reach with my work – whether it’s in person or on their screens – and the ways our team is engaging and educating them about environmental issues.
What¹s the most valuable thing you learned in CI?:
The most valuable thing I learned in CI is the importance of true teamwork. Communication can’t be siloed off. Good teams (like mine) work as a unit, building on each other’s strengths and tackling challenges together.
What advice would you give to current CI students?:
My best advice for current CI students is that college is such an exciting time because you get to write your own story. Take advantage of that. Ask questions. Try new things. Get involved. Oh, and always have a pair of comfortable shoes with you. You never know what your day might bring.
