Where has your CI degree taken you?:
My CI degree has allowed me to find some interesting opportunities and definitely some great resume builders! Post grad, I’ve been able to work with Tesla’s residential energy team as an interconnection coordinator, do remote freelance work as a side hustle and I’m now finding myself in new creative career with Caesars Entertainment, Inc.!
What is your favorite thing about your job?:
With my job, I’m able to network a lot. Living in Las Vegas, there are so many important people that come and visit our hotel properties - celebrities being a big portion of them! Because we work closely with a lot of big names in the entertainment industry, I get to see the behind the scenes of who these people are, along with the ins and outs of how production works for our important events such as hotel rebranding, celebrity appearances and restaurant openings. Being able to be a part of the creative process for these events is very eye opening and overwhelming in the best way. To experience my creative value being appreciated and actually used in hotel creative marketing is amazing!
What¹s the most valuable thing you learned in CI?:
The most valuable thing I have learned is that it is great to have a diversity of skills. A lot of companies did not understand why my resume had so many different things because they didn’t understand what ISC was. I chose to specifically accept the job offer with Caesars because they understood how much of an asset it is to be so multitalented in many different areas. It means you are a quick learner who can further develop your skills in other areas!
What advice would you give to current CI students?:
Don’t get so caught up in what everybody else is doing. Worry about your own direction in life - try not to feel defeated when your wins haven’t come to fruition yet. Just because you haven’t seen it yet, doesn’t mean it isn’t coming!
