Tori Bertrand always felt at home while at UK, which provided her with the ability to build great friendships, experience once in a lifetime events and endless possibilities for the future with her communication degree.
“My degree means everything to me because of how much it has really helped since I graduated,” Bertrand said. “I am equipped with skills that, while in college, I did not even realize my degree would give me.”
Now, Bertrand uses the skills and connections she was able to build while in the College of Communication and Information at her job as a guest experience representative for the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators.
“I was able to get my master’s in sports administration, travel the United States for work and leisure and now work for my home team,” Bertrand said.
After graduating with her master’s degree from the University of Louisville, she worked with a sports marketing agency based in Nashville. Then, in September 2022, she started as an inside sales associate with the Nashville Predators and was promoted to her current role in July 2023.
Bertrand expressed how confident she feels in her ability to communicate and understand cues with her communication degree, both of which have made her job easier and enjoyable.
“Try everything, but keep in mind what you want your end goal to be,” Bertrand said. “Whether it be an internship, new job or elective, it should add value to you.”
