Business Development Intern

Forge is a full-service, hands-on marketing agency that delivers with speed, quality, and expertise. When working with Forge, clients do not have to piece together marketing talent, work with multiple agencies, or worry about low-quality work due to limited talent. Forge was founded on the principle of serving its clients and its team with honesty, integrity, patience, and respect.

Internship Details

Compensation Type: Unpaid

Job Type: Fully Remote

Hours: 15 - 20 hours per week

Responsibilities

Forge is growing its client base for brand identity development, logo design, and graphic design services. To achieve this growth, Forge is partnering with print shops who need assistance with designing and preparing the artwork for printing. The Business Development Intern will be responsible for completing tasks that contribute to establishing relationships with potential print shop partners. The responsibilities include:

• Managing Database Queries and Exports: Search Forge’s paid database to locate print shops that meet specific criteria, then export contact information into Excel files.

• Maintaining Forge’s HubSpot CRM: Upload printshop contact information into HubSpot and keep notes on each contact as they express interest in learning more about the partnership.

• Conducting Initial Outreach Calls: Contact print shops to share details and answer questions about developing a partnership with Forge.

• Facilitate Follow-Up Communications: Schedule follow-up meetings between interested print shop contacts and Forge’s Creative Director as well as send emails containing partnership details.

• Creating Written Content: Write compelling blog posts, social media captions, video scripts and email newsletters about topics related to Forge’s services.

• Collaborating with Forge Leadership: Work directly with Forge’s Founder and Creative Director to identify trends within initial outreach calls and to develop supporting materials.

• Sharpening Verbal Communication Skills: Work with Forge’s Founder to refine tone and delivery over phone calls as well as to practice call scenarios and FAQs.

Requirements

The Internal Business Development Intern must:

• Have a computer, phone, and stable internet.

• Have access to a quite space to conduct phone calls without interruption.

• Be proficient in Google Docs or Microsoft Office.

• Have a willingness to learn how to use digital platforms (e.g. HubSpot, Outlook, Data Axel, etc.).

• Be proficient in written and verbal communication.

• Check Slack messages daily and respond in a timely fashion.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the internship, the Business Development Intern will have attained proficiency in:

• Understanding strategies and concepts for B2B (business to business) sales and business development.

• Speaking with a professional, positive, and corporate voice and tone over the phone.

• Having the confidence to conduct cold outreach calls and to navigate conversations with business contacts.

• Navigating, maintaining, and using databases and CRM platforms such as HubSpot to find, store, and update information about contacts.

• Using Microsoft Outlook to communicate via email and to schedule meetings.

Although Forge is an agency that conducts marketing on behalf of its clients (other organizations), it must execute marketing strategies for itself, so it can acquire more clients. The Internal Marketing Intern will be responsible for completing tasks that contribute to marketing Forge’s to potential clients. The responsibilities include:

• Managing Social Media Accounts: Plan, create, and publish social media posts on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram about topics related to Forge’s services.

• Creating Written Content: Write compelling blog posts, social media captions, video scripts, and email newsletters about topics related to Forge’s services.

• Managing Website Content: Upload, edit, and publish blog posts to Forge’s Wix website.

• Designing Digital Graphics: Use templates on Forge’s Canva account to create visually appealing graphics for blog posts and social media posts.

• Leveraging AI: Use ChatGPT to enhance and expedite content planning, creation, and editing processes.

• Collaborating with Forge Leadership: Work directly with Forge’s Founder and Directors to plan and edit content so that it aligns with Forge’s objectives and marketing principles.

Requirements

The Internal Marketing Intern must:

• Have a computer and stable internet.

• Be proficient in Google Docs or Microsoft Office.

• Have a willingness to learn how to use digital platforms (e.g. Wix, Canva, Buffer, etc.)

• Be proficient in written and verbal communication.

• Check Slack messages daily and respond in a timely fashion.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the internship, the Business Development Intern will have attained proficiency in:

• Understanding content marketing strategies and concepts for B2B (business to business) marketing.

• Writing with a professional, positive, and corporate voice and tone.

• Planning, creating, and publishing professional, branded social media posts.

• Planning, creating, and scheduling corporate email marketing newsletters and automated email campaigns.

• Planning, creating, and publishing educational and informative blog posts.

• Incorporating AI into content planning, creation, and editing processes.

• Navigating cloud-based marketing platforms including Wix, Canva, HubSpot, and Buffer.

• Using Slack and Microsoft Outlook for internal communications.
