The Transylvania Athletics Department and its Sports Information Department are seeking interns from the University of Kentucky for an experiential-style internship for the upcoming 2018-19 athletic season.

Drawing upon their knowledge base and desired study focus, selected interns will be assigned to assist our sports information department, which serves as the marketing and gameday operations branch of the Transylvania Athletics Department.

The selected intern will assist with gameday operations as part of the event management staff, participating actively in various positions integral to the production of a home sporting event and assisting with athletic communications functions as well.

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree focused towards communications, sport administration, sports marketing, social media management, public relations, and/or sports journalism.

This internship is designed to give an intern additional experiential experience in applications of public relations, sports journalism, and event management in a college athletics setting.

Key elements of the internship include the following areas:

Intern may also handle additional in-game tasks including operating a scoreboard, assisting broadcast crew with relevant updates, and stat tracking.

Intern will be prepped and trained on creating a variety of written content, including game recaps, game previews, “season-in-review” style articles, season previews, press releases on players of the week, and feature stories. Much of this element will require intern to turnaround postgame recaps.

--Research and Marketing: Outside of live events, intern will also be called upon to assist Sports Information Department in fulfilling requests from outside media, which can include facilitating visits from outside media, collecting photos of student-athletes or coaches for requests, collating recent and archived content, and other projects focused towards keeping Athletics website accurate and updated.
