Wildcat News and Big Blue Banter Production

Wildcat News is our live student-produced newscast at UK.
Big Blue Banter is our student-produced sports-themed show.
For Spring 2026, the shows and internship will take place in our new DOWNTOWN STUDIOS. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our productions and programming.
We are looking for students who would like to focus on the studio production aspects of broadcasting/digital streaming/social media for JAM399 credit. This includes live and "live-to-tape" studio audio production, graphics, floor management, technical directing, and directing news and sports programs.
Our newscast is live at 1 p.m. Tuesdays on UK's Twitch channel and posted to the College of Communication & Information's YouTube channel. The sports program airs at the same time on Thursdays.
Other duties will include simple video editing with Premiere Pro and the digital posting of links, programs and social media posts. Other projects may be assigned based on the needs of the productions and the interests of the intern. In the past, these have included more sophisticated video editing projects, journalistic storytelling and social media design work. In spring, we will help facilitate the sharing of pictures and video from JOU’s Game On! workshop across various platforms. We also often partner with JMI to put together short promos or other live-to-tape productions.
This is not an on-air position, although if a JOU student would like to provide some content in addition to studio duties, we can talk!
Position averages 10-12 hours/week for JAM399 credit.

REQUIRED in-person hours at the Rupp Arena Studios:

Tuesdays & Thursdays 11am to 2pm for the Spring 2026 semester.

Other hours as arranged based on needs and schedules.

Some may be performed online or offsite on a flexible time schedule.
