WUKY-FM, the listener supported public FM radio station of the University of Kentucky, is looking for interns for the upcoming semesters. Interns would start by learning from professionals at the station, doing several weeks of shadowing and training on how to research a story, conduct an interview, compile audio as well as write and edit scripts. Interns would work alongside the staff of reporters covering events and news conferences and eventually could begin covering their own stories. Not every intern will necessarily end up on air, but they could be used regularly in voicing spots. WUKY-FM interns will learn about sound editing, news gathering and writing for broadcast and podcast. They also should expect to develop critical thinking and research skills. Early training will be at the offices on Spurr Road in Lexington and then interns will work on location or in studio. For more information, contact Alan Lytle at aflytle@uky.edu
