Queer Kentucky
Queer Kentucky, the only dedicated LGBTQ newsroom in the state with articles that have been nationally recognized and shared around the world, has internships available in the fall, spring and summer semesters. The group collaborates with journalists writers, and historians to report on the experiences, barriers, successes, news, history and joy experienced by the Queer community throughout all corners of the state.
An intern will gain hands-on experience navigating the fast-paced and constantly evolving Queer media landscape, while also building cultural competency in working with marginalized communities. A good candidate would have strong research, reporting and editing skills, familiarity with editorial style guides and an eye for detail, experience or course work in journalism, copywriting or related fields, basic knowledge of photography and video production techniques. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
