A Regular or Student conference registration includes a catered lunch for Day 1 and Day 2, and the Post-conference as well as light continental breakfasts on Day 1 and Day 2.
Regular or Student registration also includes the following special events; please RSVP on the registration page:
- Monday, Sept. 16, 6-8 p.m.: Poster session and reception at the Gatton Student Center. Appetizers and hosted bar.
- Complimentary shuttle bus transportation is available from Hyatt Regency to campus twice daily.
A One day or Post-conference Only registration includes a catered lunch for the day you specify on your registration, as well as light continental breakfast on that day.
Cancellation Policy
Refund requests must be submitted in writing prior to Aug.15, 2024 and are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. The conference and all of its events are offered on a cost-recovery basis and may be cancelled due to adverse events beyond the control of ALA or if there is insufficient registration. In the event that an ALA-sponsored activity is cancelled, ALA cannot be responsible for any cancellation/charge assessed to registrants by airlines, travel agencies or hotels. ALA does not provide refunds for registration or personal expenses due to weather or travel related circumstances.
Post-conference: "Storytelling for Libraries and their Communities"
A half-day of hands-on workshops, hosted by Kate McDowell and Nicole Breazeale, will offer scholars, librarians and students more tools for telling library stories, for advocacy and research. Learn how to translate YOUR story to an array of audiences with immediacy and impact.

Travel Grants
We are pleased to offer 10 travel grants for students to attend LRS 8. Each travel grant includes conference registration and up to $1,000 towards travel, housing and meals (actual costs only will be reimbursed).
- Applicants must be enrolled in an ALA-accredited master’s or doctoral degree program, or in a master’s or doctoral degree program with a specialty in school librarianship from a program recognized by AASL in an educational unit accredited by CAEP.
- Please submit a brief essay (250 -300 words) describing how research relates to your career goals along with proof of enrollment (acceptance letter, registration confirmation, etc.) to LRS.8@uky.edu by July 1, 2024.
- 10 applicants meeting the above criteria will receive the travel grant.
